Taniya Smith, D.O.

Taniya Smith is a native of Biloxi, Mississippi. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Xavier University and received her Doctor of Osteopathy Degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. After returning to the Gulf Coast, she served as Chief Resident in Family Medicine at USA. During her residency, she received extensive training in Women's Health and Adult Medicine. She is now accepting new patients. She resides in Theodore, Alabama.

L. Sean Stokes, NP-C, Managing Partner

Sean Stokes was born in Pascagoula, MS and raised in Grand Bay, Alabama. He attended Castlen Elementary, Grand Bay Middle, and graduated from Mobile County High School in 1990. He attended the University of Mobile and the University of South Alabama. After completing his undergraduate studies, he worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neuro-trauma ICU and Cardiothoracic Surgery and Recovery. After completing his Graduate Studies in Family Practice in 1997, he managed and practiced in Rural Medicine in Covington County, Alabama. He returned to Mobile in 2000 and has practiced managing Adolescent and Adult patients. He focuses on primary prevention and chronic disease management to include obesity, weight management, men's health to include hormone replacement therapy, hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular health. He is currently taking new patients for men's health only.

Blake Stokes, FNP-C

Blake Stokes, born and raised in Grand Bay, Alabama, graduated from Alma Bryant High School in 2010 and attended Troy University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014. After graduation he spent several years working as a Neuro Intensive Care Unit nurse where he was a member of the Neuro Response/Stroke Code Team. While there he received multiple nominations, including the Helen Davis Award. Blake went on to complete his Master of Science in Nursing in 2018 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. Before joining the SAMC family, Blake utilized his Nurse Practitioner degree by working in occupational medicine for several years and most recently as a Neuro-Intensivist at USA Health. He is board certified in Family Practice (FNP-C), a DOT Certified Medical Examiner and certified in ACLS/BLS. He is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and American Association of Men in Nursing (AAMN). Blake currently resides in Grand Bay with his wife and two daughters. He is thrilled to be practicing in his hometown and is currently accepting new patients.



Ashley McBride NP-C

Ashley McBride grew up in Grand Bay, Alabama, and graduated from Alma Bryant High School in 2008. She earned her associate's degree in nursing from the University of Mobile in 2012. Over the next ten years, Ashley worked in various ICU positions at Mobile Infirmary, including in the COVID ICU during the pandemic. Later, she returned to the University of Alabama, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2020 and her Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree in 2022. Before joining SAMC, Ashley worked at Mostellar Medical Center. She is board-certified in Family Practice (FNP-C) and holds certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). Additionally, she is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Ashley resides in Irvington with her husband, daughter, and their golden retriever named Sister. She is excited to be a part of SAMC and is dedicated to helping the community. Ashley is currently accepting new patients.

Penny Dupre, M.D.

Penny Dupre is a board certified Pediatrician. She has small town roots growing up in Chauvin and then Houma, Louisiana. She went on to attend the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts for her final two years of high school. She came to Alabama and earned her undergraduate degree as one of the first biochemistry majors at Spring Hill College. She then attended medical school at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and completed her pediatric residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 2011. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and the Medical Society of Mobile. She currently resides in Mobile with her husband and two sons.

Sonia Grevenitis, MD

Dr. Sonia Grevenitis is a board certified pediatrician. She grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. She returned to Alabama to attend the University of South Alabama College of Medicine (Class of 2010), where she met her husband. She completed her pediatric residency at Wake Forest University in 2013. She has 11 years of experience as an outpatient pediatrician- most recently working at Mostellar Medical Center for over 6 years. She currently resides in Mobile with her husband and two daughters. She is accepting new patients.



Melissa Sprinkle, CPNP-PC

Melissa Sprinkle is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She was born in Mobile and raised in Grand Bay where she graduated from Alma Bryant High School in 2007. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2011 along with her Masters of Nursing in Pediatrics in 2019. She served as a pediatric nurse at the University of South Alabama for 9 years before taking a career change as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Her greatest pleasure while working at Children’s and Women’s hospital was caring for her pediatric cancer patients. Her continuous passion as a nurse and nurse practitioner is building relationships with her patients and families while making a difference in their lives whether big or small. Prior to joining SAMC, Mrs. Sprinkle served as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Mostellar Medical Center for 3 years. She remains a local resident in Grand Bay with her husband and 3 children. She takes pride in caring for her local community and is currently accepting new patients.

Bridget Barnett, CRNP, PMHNP

Bridget Barnett s a local Gulf Coast resident, where she resides with her husband and daughter. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of South Alabama earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 2006, before furthering her education and receiving a Master of Science Degree in Nursing through the University of South Alabama’s Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program in 2010. She is Board Certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Mrs. Barnett has worked in both the community and private sector and is credentialed and experienced in treating patients throughout the lifespan, including both children and adults. She received the Director’s Award in community mental health in 2008, the University of South Alabama’s Clinical Excellence Award in her graduate program in 2010, was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and is a past recipient of the National Health Service Corps Scholarship and Loan Program for Health Care Providers who serve in their respective communities. Mrs. Barnett continues to participate in various professional organizations and volunteers for various charity organizations.

Amy Burkhardt, RN, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Amy Burkhardt is a Psychiatric CRNP who earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from Judson College in Marion, AL., as well as a Bachelor in Nursing from Rhode Island College in Providence, RI. She holds a Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama where she was awarded the Excellence in Practice Award for her graduating class. She was an active member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for both her undergraduate and graduate tenures. She is board certified through the American Nurse Credentialing Center as a Family/ Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She is credentialed to work with patients throughout the life span.



Connie Fleming, LPC

Connie Fleming is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She resides in Irvington with her husband, whom she says "is my greatest cheerleader.” She graduated from Troy University with both her Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Psychology Counseling. She has spent her whole career working in clinical outpatient care providing care to children, adolescents, their families and adults. Connie's passion as a therapist is to strengthen families, and she is very passionate about her work around adoptions and attachment wounds. Connie's greatest love and pride is her two daughters, whom she shares a very close relationship with. Previously with Comprehensive Medpsych Services, Connie is excited and honored to bring professional psychiatric services to South Alabama Medical Clinic.

Cherri Bedwell, Chief Operating Officer
